Myleigh's Mission

Ashton Pruitt donation give mission myleigh myleigh's birthday myleigh's mission socks the call

 My sweet baby.

She will only be my little one for a short moment in time so while I have her to hold I must shape and form her opinion of the world in the most loving way possible. I want her to see the beauty in people. I want her to have the desire to be a blessing to others and help folks in need. I want her to have a giving heart, put others first and I want her to love the Lord. As I pray for her to be selfless and serve -the best way to implement these characteristics is to teach her even at a young age, even on her birthday... Is to give. So, that is what we do.

Last year we were able to donate over 1000 diapers and wipes to The Call of Van Buren County. Those diapers and wipes directly help infants and toddlers who are unfortunately placed in foster care... Wether it be for a night away from their guardians...a week, a month, or longer. Sometimes when a foster parent or volunteer is called into action to take care of a child they are often not prepared for a baby in diapers. It was amazing to see all of our friends and loved ones bringing diapers to Myleigh Pearl's birthday party in her honor. I am so grateful and I know The Call of VBC was as well.

Believe it or not I've gotten some funny looks and eye rolls over launching "Myleigh's Mission." Quite frankly I don't care at all what others think when it comes down to it. "She doesn't get any presents for her birthday?" "People will want to give her something..." Sure, I get it. I do. But really, the girl is spoiled already. Anything she needs and wants, and yes... Things that she doesn't even need but I want her to have; she gets. Year round! LOL. We have no need for useless toys, stuffed animals, and trinkets that will get opened and not played with a week after coming home from her party to take up space. I feel guilty for getting rid of them because they were given with love but seriously our house is a wreck and more toys just add to the craziness! Yes, we will give her a birthday present. It will just not be numerous annoying useless items that will lay around on the floor that will get stepped on in the middle of the night as I am walking out of her room.

With all that said, after praying about it; this year Myleigh-Pearl is collecting socks for The Call of Faulkner County for her birthday. Again, socks are a necessity and in great need for foster kids. These inexpensive items can be purchased relatively from anywhere and in any size. They will directly be given to children who will greatly appreciate them! Please join us in blessing The Call of Faulkner County. We are collecting socks at the store all week long and even giving a 10% discount off your total purchase for those that bring them. Can't make it to Southern Savvy? Feel free to drop them off at Pruitt's Mid-State Stockyards in Damascus or feel free to stop by the Damascus Community Center at 2 PM this Sunday for Myleigh-Pearl's birthday party "Tea for Two."

November 5th the greatest gift was given to me... Besides my salvation, my sweet baby was born. By teaching her to give on her special day it inspires her to be the "gift" to others.  I hope that no matter in what capacity you are able to give, do so when you can. I hope that "Myleigh's Mission" inspires others to give in one way or the other; whether it's just a simple monetary donation for a local animal shelter, St. Jude's, a church, or giving non perishable food to a soup kitchen... I hope that "Myleigh's Mission" enourages your spirit during the season of giving.

1 John 3:17

But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
